"Great idea, semi-poor quality of instruments", My daughter (18 months) loves the instruments, but the only thing that really has any decent sound quality is the harmonica. The flute does not work at all. Overall very nice variety of instruments and colors.

"This is lots of fun", I bough this for my son's 2nd birthday. He loves it. Within a few days he had figured out how to use the flute and the harmonica. I was amazed how well he does. Now we both play music together. It teaches him rythm and is just so much fun. It comes in a nice crate you can keep all the instruments in. I would recommend this for any child.

"tuneless xylophone", When we ordered this set we were especially excited about the xylophone, which turned out to be shoddily made and completely out of tune. Don't order this set if you want to make music with it, or if you're expecting quality workmanship. On the plus side, there are a variety of noises to be made and the baby seems to like it well enough.

"Melissa and Doug deluxe band set", My grandaughter recieved this on her 4th birthday. There were so many instruments to try out that she played with it for quite a long time. These are well made instruments and lots of fun.

"Great fun for teaching music and group play", My 2-year-old loves this set. We broke it out for her when she started watching Baby Einstein's Meet the Orchestra. She likes to look for and play the instrument from this set that is being played in the video. Well made, safe, and lots of fun!

"Daily Concerts", My 2.5 year old daughter received this toy for Christmas and she has given her dad and me concerts every day. She loves for all three of us to each get an instrument and play together. Great toy. High quality. She has learned the names of all the instruments and has figured out how to play all but the kazoo.

"Great gift.", I got this toy for my toddler it makes for great family time, it was a x-mas gift and it was his favorite gift!

"A disappointment", I was disappointed, especially by the xylophone, which was the reason I chose this big band in a box over the other available sets. Usually the Melissa and Doug toys are great, so I tend to always buy them - these instruments look nice but don't sound good. The sound of the xylophone keys are barely differentiable from one another, and the other instruments sound similarly flat. I'm keeping it because my daughter is having fun playing with it, and shipping things back is such a pain in the neck, but I am very disappointed by it.

"Noisy but wonderful", My 5 year old and 2 year old love this set! It is a very good quality set. Every thing (this is supposed to be wood) is made out of high quality wood. The other pieces are made of other high quality material (hermonic has no wood in it but is made of good materials). One of the clappers (That is what my kids call them not sure of the true name) had been broken but I have no clue how that happened (it was found under their bed broken after they had some friends over). Their dad was able to fix it and the kids don't know the difference.


"Toy Review", This Melissa and Doug Deluxe Band Set was the hit of the party. I got it for my Nephews' first birthday and he loved it. He kept going back to it out of all the toys he received and his mother was a big fan. It was very bright and well put together just like all of their toys appear to be. I expect he will get many years of fun out of it.
