I found this harp to be extremely unsatisfactory. Not only do I not recommend it, I must warm people against buying it. I wish I could give it negative stars!

My harp arrived at the end of June 2007. The first time I tuned it, a string broke due to a burr on the tuning pin. The enclosed booklet showed how to change a string, but not which replacement string (included) to use.

Next, I found that about half of the sharpening levers were out of alignment causing the sharpened string to "twang". The company told me that it is very easy to adjust the levers, but it is not. Each lever requires a considerable amount of tweaking in order to get it into the exact position where the sharpened note is in tune but no longer twangs. I had problems even loosening the screw! It took the expert, experienced harp technician to whom I eventually took it 2-1/2 hours to adjust all the levers, and cost me several hundred dollars.

However, the worst was yet to come. One afternoon in the beginning of Nov. 2007, I started tuning the harp and noticed it had gone badly out of tune though it had been fine 24 hours earlier and had "seasoned" enough to hold a tune more than 24 hours. A glance at the tuning pins revealed that there was a large crack in the harp's neck. This cannot be repaired, by the way, rendering the harp useless. I had only had it 4 months!!

I contacted the vendor from whom I had bought the harp who informed that all warranty claims had to be handled by Mid-East. Mid-East informed me that their 1 year warranty on the frame covered only repair and/or replacement so I couldn't return the harp and get my money refunded as I'd had it longer than 30 days. My harp would be replaced, but only after I returned the harp to them in Florida. At my expense.

I had no idea who to use to ship it and asked Mid-East for suggestions. All they would say is it could not be shipped UPS (they were wrong) and I'd have to find a local shipper who would ship it from my home in Wisconsin to them in Florida. After much searching for a shipper with reasonable rates, I finally discovered that not only would UPS take it (and come pick it up from my home), they were the cheapest. However, it still cost me close to $200.

And Mid-East couldn't tell me when my replacement harp would arrive. It depended on what they had avaiable when my return had been processed (which could take a while) and could be several weeks or several months! As it is the holiday season and I have quite a few playing commitments, I have had to rent a harp to use in the interim.

All in all, I am very dissatisfied with both the vendor (Apollo's Axes) and Mid-East Mfg. Neither of them was in the least bit helpful, nor were they at all interested in seeing that I, their customer, was satisfied. I wanted to just return the harp and get my money back, but neither would do that despite their "100% satisfaction guaranteed" promise. "100% satisfaction guaranteed" only applies to the first 30 days after purchased. Pray that nothing happens after those 30 days because if it does, the only "satisfaction" you'll get is a similar harp with no guarantee that it's quality will be any better considering Mid-East's quality control is non-existent.

Again, I cannot stress strongly enough: Stay Away From This Harp!! While its price makes it attractive, it just isn't worth the risk. And it is liable to cost you a lot more in the long run. With what I now have invested in the harp (which I still don't have, by the way), I could have bought a much better harp from a much more trustworthy and reputable dealer who would actually take pride in his workmanship and stand behind his products.
